Charlie Parr - Old Time Country Blues

The first time I heard Charlie Parr was at an event called "Barn Aid" held at a place called Bubbling Springs, a communal farm over in Dunn County, just outside of Menomonie Wisconsin.

Greg Brown was the featured performer for the day, along with Jeff White and the Front Porch. But the surprise performance of the day was the old time, hard drivin', Mississippi Delta blues sound of Charlie Parr.

His voice has a genuine and haunting quality.  It expresses an eternal sound that takes us back to the core of American Blues. I've only met him once, just briefly... long enough to get his permission to video record him and post it on YouTube. He strikes me as being a very thoughtful and pleasant young man.
